awesome sites for learning shit

October 9th, 2018

How’s it going guys? I was thinking that since I’ve written an article on tips to making money young and websites to learn how to do so, that it would be pretty cool to focus on the head on your shoulders this time around. What I mean by that is you won’t be making money from any of these sites below or might not even learn marketable skills. You totally can if you want! But not everything is money and learning things to better yourself like learning how to be happy and learning a new language should be used to enrich your life more so than your wallet! These are sites that I use every single day to upgrade my life and my way of thinking honestly every single day! I thought I’d share these with you you never know it might help you access that awesome side of yourself! I’ve listed just 4 of my top 10 personal development websites them according to awesomeness and I’ll be sharing more soon

Free Rice

About

Freerice is a website that’s backed by the UN World Food Programme and the website has two missions they aim to achieve: provide education for free and aid in diminishing world hunger by making money from advertisements
(unblock ads on this site!) and I honestly believe this is a beautiful method of achieving both at the same time making this one of my absolute favorite best free personal development websites.

Website Usability

Completely easy to use just type in the domain (or click above) and you’re shown the vocabulary test directly from the homepage. Get at it!

How and How Much it Helps Me

Writing articles for various websites all day and every day can leave me stuck when I’m looking for that one word on the tip of my tongues (fingers in this case) so keeping my vocabulary sharp in such an easy way AND contributing to feeding the hungry makes this an online course I can really stand behind

Price

Free silly! Just remember to turn off your ad-blockers because that’s how they make money to feed the hungry

Free to use and it feeds the hungry? Of course this is a five-star website

Verbling

About

Verbling is a website perfectly adapted to teach you a new language and they use online videos provided by qualified teachers to do that. They’re based in San Francisco, so you know they’re up to date on the latest and greatest tech to inject a new language into your noggin!

In saying that, though, they provide language teachers from all over the world so you know you’re immersing yourself in a language with the best teachers suited for the job

Website Usability

Verbling is different in that they provide three learning methods; one-on-one language learning, live classes or online hosted classes that you can access whenever you want and the website UI and usability greatly reflects how useful it really is

How and How Much it Helps Me

I love taking their online hosted courses and I’ve mentioned previously that I’m learning French. I use Verbling, Ba Ba Dum and Duolingo to have an ever-developing learning experience (I use all three every day) and Verblings classes are actually created by teachers, so this sets it apart from the other two. They all have their merits but this makes Verbling indispensable for my French learning experience

Price

From free language learning modules to $50 full-suite online courses

Verbling is a great and up-and-coming language learning course provider on the net and is one to look out for

Duolingo

About

Duolingo has me hooked

They’ve made learning so easy and fun (and free!) that honestly out of all the websites for personal development I use, this one I have to say is the most fun

They keep things fun by giving you this system that sort of emulates addictive games (think of Candy Crush or Clash of Clans) that has hearts for when you’re in a lesson and streak counts to tally up how often you’ve been coming back and learning (this is to keep the language fresh in your mind and actually works!). Also, what makes it so addictive is you get to see whether or not you answered a question correctly as soon as you click submit

Website Usability

The website is so user-friendly you could honestly get your 10 year old sibling hooked. Add to that, that it’s basically a game in your browser but instead of mindless gaming you’re actually learning and it becomes a double-whammy of awesomeness 5

How and How Much it Helps Me

I learn a new phrase in French every single day and even if I don’t want to learn something new (when my mind’s too busy with other stuff for example) I can just go back online and take refresher courses to keep my streak alive. It helps me heaps by rewarding me for not forgetting something I’ve already learned. One of the best free online courses there are

Price

Free! They make money by having you translate documents at the end. This serves two purposes; they check to see if you’re actually proficient at the language and they also help to translate the internet by actual people and not robots, meaning one day, you can have your favourite English language sites in the language you learned! These are the guys that brought us CAPTCHA and reCAPTCHA (which are great applications for keeping spammers, hackers and bots at bay) so they always have free, alternative monetization methods to keep their awesome products free

Duolingo is the best free language learning website there has ever been. The fun system, the awesome layout and the encouragingly short test sessions make this extremely addictive

Calm

About

Calm is a website or app if you feel like downloading it that gives you guided meditations from 5 minutes to 20 in your selected environment on the screen.

I don’t know much about the company itself, all I know is they’ve come out with a book and that’s pretty much their only monetization method. It’s so unobtrusive that you might not even ever see the page.

Website Usability

This is one of the best personal development websites I’ve found that’s so easy to navigate. You’re provided your meditation options straight from the home page. You select from 5 minutes to 20 minutes with 5 minute increments. Choose your environment setting but since you’re going to have your eyes closed anyway, just choose which sounds you like best. Easy as pie

How and How Much it Helps Me

This is easily one of the best personal development websites I have ever used and is definitely in my top personal development websites list. It helps me every morning by keeping me centred, grounded and energized. A must-see website in my opinion

Price

Free! Buy the book if you want to support them or give them a like on their social media pages

Rating

This has proven to be the easiest way of getting into meditation for me by far
